I’m a co-founder of an independent organizational change consultancy called Flux. I write a lot about companies and culture on our blog.
I’m 33 which makes me an old millennial. I live in a 🚐 (van) and various 🏠 (houses) with my partner, Ellie, and dog, Biscuit. Mainly in the UK and Europe.
It’s often a struggle to explain precisely what I do in one pithy paragraph. Because I do a lot of different things. So, instead of reducing the complexity I’ve embraced it. Here’s all the stuff I’m doing and have done.
🤡
Comedy for Companies (2018+)
Stand-up comedy workshops to help teams and individuals to work better.
A new Flux Ventures spinoff company with my stand-up comedian pal, Willy Kosovich. We teach businesses, students, and all kinds of people stand-up comedy skills, to help them communicate better and be mentally healthier.
🌊
Flux Studio (2016+)
Advisory, coaching, training with orgs to fundamentally change the way they work.
We call Flux our freedom machine. It’s a tool for changing the world, one company at a time. Organizational change is hard and the future of work is daunting. Companies turn to the big consultancies to help, but even they are trapped in old ways of working.
Me and Jon have spent the last 10 years trying to figure out how to live and work well. Combining cutting-edge theory and practice with decades-old wisdom. Drawing on experience supporting orgs from the world’s biggest corporates down to small local charities.
We bring new philosophies and ways of working to our clients. Helping them to bridge the gap between the old world and the new. Pushing and provoking them to change, one step at a time.
😎
Tales of Cool Companies (2018)
A little book of inspiration.
The latest little book from Flux Ventures. We’ve compiled a list of 14 cool companies that inspire us, in the hope that they will inspire other people too. Available as a beautiful softback from me, or a Kindle version from Amazon.
🎵
LUNGS Weekend (2018)
A retreat for non-professionals who like singing.
A weekend in the wilderness of singing and playfulness. Devised, curated, and run by me, Ellie Westbrook, and Rhi Redpath. We spent a beautiful weekend in the Welsh countryside. I cooked for 30 people over fire. We sang our little pipes out. We made some lovely new pals. You should definitely come next year.
💼
Bizniz Salon (2018+)
An online discussion about stuff that matters in work.
Another Flux Ventures project. This is an online discussion series about doing business better, made with my pal Andy Young. Named after the salons of the 17th and 18th Centuries, in which inspiring hosts would curate events to exchange ideas through conversation.
We’ve covered ‘Consultants’, ‘Digital Transformation’, and ‘Fuck Ups’ so far. If you’ve got an idea for a future discussion topic, give me a shout. Watch and listen to previous Salons, or sign up for the next one.
📚
Democracy Squared (2016+)
A book about how digital tech can make democracy more democratic.
Another Flux Ventures project. What started as a post-Brexit blog post by Jon, turned into a book about the future of democracy in a digital world.
I edited this awesome little rant, kicking it into shape for publication. We ended up writing most of it in an Airbnb in Mexico City, fuelled by tasty tacos; and did the layout at Alpselerator in Dream Valley.
Jon’s since done a TEDx Talk and helped one of the tech democracy startups from the book (MiVote) to build their product.
📙
The System (2017)
A book about doing digital marketing well.
My good pal, Jesper Åström is a digital marketing wizard. He wanted to collate 15 years of experience into an easy-to-understand book but needed some help. I took his words and ideas and helped him to communicate them with clarity.
Over 11,000 people have read the book. Which is pretty bloody awesome.

Online Learning Innovation for Hyper Island (2015-18)
A new service by an old company.
The once-disruptive Swedish educator was in danger of being disrupted. So they decided to dive into online learning and adapt their intense, in-person pedagogy to meet a wider audience.
As an internal startup team, we hustled and hacked the product into shape. We filled the first course and built a couple more. It’s now a serious revenue stream, for a business that once thought powerful online learning was impossible.

Territories Project (2015-16)
A fun creative project with my partner, Ellie.
An adventure, a band, and a theatre performance. In 2015 me and Ellie hitchhiked from London to Minsk (Belarus). We wanted to understand why Europe is the way it is, by meeting its people, walking its roads, and eating its food. This Kickstarter-funded trip turned into musical and theatrical performances throughout 2016.
